Spring may not have sprung just yet, but in terms of the calendar, it will have officially arrived in just a few short days! That being said, now is a great time to start discussing a few maintenance tips to help you prepare your home for the change in season. If you'll be using this weekend to your advantage to get some spring cleaning done, here are a few ways that you can incorporate your roof in the process:
- Check for gutters that may be pulling away from your roof. Especially after the wet weather this winter brought, you'll want to make sure your gutters are still in tact.
- Starting from the ground, complete a visual inspection for any signs of loose or missing shingles. Then, once you're sure you got a good look, take it one step further and get a closer look by heading up to your roof with a ladder.
- If safe and accessible, clean out any debris that may have piled up in the valleys of your roof.
- Look for any cracks around your chimney and flashing and reseal with caulk if necessary.
- From the inside out and the outside in, check for signs of water damage or for leaks that could potentially turn into serious damage.
Although knowing what to look for can make seasonal roof maintenance rather simple, we understand that not everyone wants to let their feet leave the ground. If you're looking for a team of trusted roofing experts who can assist you with your maintenance in 2015, you've found one!
